Where on the web to find Wimbledon

16:18 Tue 19 June 2007

The king of all tennis tournaments kicks off this weekend and Wimbledon certainly has its plethora of online desinations for the avid fan to lap up a regular summer sport fix. The official site has a great new MediaZone where you can watch matches on demand or tune in to Radio Wimbledon.

The blogosphere is not lacking in voice either. WebTwitcher uncovered two particular favourites today, Craig Hickman's Tennis Blog, "irreverent musings from a tennis fanatic". Also the brilliantly named Corned Beef Hash Marks, "a blog that covers fashion, technology, and other topics related to the world of professional tennis".

Both excellent reading and definitely worth putting on your Excite MIX page if you're already camping outside the gates waiting for your metre square of grass on Henman Hill. Which, according to Wikipedia, has now been tentatively renamed Murray Mound, Mount Murray or Murrayfield (I guess depending on where you're from) since Timbo retired.

As reported on ZDNet, IBM will also be recreating Wimbledon in Second Life.

WebTwitcher can just imagine the new set up. Centre Court. Umpire. Ball Boys and Girls. Second Life Rep. Should be an interesting tournament this year.
