I cant get no satisfaction, from the mobile web11:44 Mon 12 March 2007Interesting stats out from the Online Publishers Association today. Only 25% of consumers that used the mobile internet were satisfied with the experience, with main complaint being load times. Notable that over one third of consumers have used the mobile web and in the UK, 76% of them said that they were able to access the web from their phones. Of these more than 50% had gone on to make use of the internet. You can get direct access to the report here (it's a pdf document and appears to be responding somewhat slowly, so be warned). The UK Association of Online Publishers' website is also worth a look - and infinitely better designed. They've got an RSS feed you can add to your Excite MIX page if you're interested in the latest from the sector.

True most devices aren't ready yet to handle the internet and mainly because of the browser and internet speed. However I don't think WIFI will be such a big impact for Mobile phones. I think the mobile internet will become big when HSPDA is availible for everyone and everywhere because people have the need to have fast internet everywhere and not only on some hot spots in the city. Also data prices must be lowerd by the providers and Content must become richer. This will give the users a much better experiance with the mobile internet thus making it more popular
The main reason of unsatisfaction is dued to the fact that today mobile devices are not yet optimized for the web and the user experience is very poor with actual tiny mobile browsers. But soon, thanks the next generation of mobile phones shown at the 3GSM World Congress 2007 (Wi-fi and 3-4 inch displays, GPS) usability and accessibility problems will be solved.
